how to give a program a midi channel

Hi i am messing about using my mpc recording and playing back through ableton live 8 , so im just using it as a sound module .

If i have program 1 as drums and want to use on midi channel 1
on channel 2 a cut up sample how do i set this to channel to


On the main page i choose mid ifor program type and on the right choose 1a or 2a but live i sjust playing what ever program is selected on the main page even on midi channel 1 and 2 .

live is receiving program 1 on midi channel 1 and program 2 on midi channel 2 but its still palying back whatveer program is slected in main poage

What machine are you on? I know for a fact that the 1000 is not multitimbral and I guess that goes for the 2500 too.
If you intend to keep using Live as your sequencer you´ll probably work faster and smoother if you manage your samples directly in Live and sell the MPC. Or buy a conventional sampler if you like hardware.

Im on the mpc 1000 , shit so i can only use one program through midi . That seems weird !!!!

Not really, it´s not a major priority to make something that is first and foremost a sequencer multitimbral. But I agree to some extent, it´d be a useful option in some situations.

I was using the new groove pool in live its really nice , but yeah i just re chopped some breaks in live and can use the mpc as a midi controller , while at home .
