Thinking to upgrade my mpc 2000 to 1000 with jjos

Hey guys,

I have a question. I am thinking about upgrading my MPC2000 to the 1000 with the jjos. I know that the akai operating system on the 1000 is very different from the 2000. Anyway, should I just rock the factory os for a while then go to JJOS. Or should I just buy the jjos from the Jump and try to learn it all at once? Which OS would be the quickest way to learn the machine to a newb.

Since you already know how to operate an MPC and perform basic functions.
I say go for the gusto. Treat ya self. Play around with the fact OS for a few hours and then switch.

i dont see how running the akai OS will help you learn to use the JJOS.

go straight for the JJOS man, if that is what you plan to use in the long run.


anyways, comming from a 2000, it should be simple. You already know what every button does.


people who used to own apple computers didn't get a PC with linux to learn how to work windows.

well it may be a good idea.. but i somehow dont see the point. you already know what the mpc does and how to do it. and what if the tutorial is not on the JJOS you are using?

just get the machine and see what you get stuck on... then check around here for your answer. read the tip n trick threads etc...

if youve used an mpc quite a bit before you'll be comfortable with either right from the off... they will be a different, but its onyl like learning a new mobile phone or something.

only use the akai os if you want to truly appreciate how much better the jj is.. otherwise just believe the (deserved) hype and go with jj from the off.

make sure your 1000 has the new pads .. or be prepared to spend $180 getting the pad upgrade.

WOOOOOO!!! Freeze for a second now I have owned the MPC3000 and 2000 and now 2500 why would you buy the 1000?

The functionality of the 2500 mixed with JJOSXL is increditable now 1.16 is freezing at the moment but you cannot get anything better than the 2500 and JJOS.

Last I remember, the CPU in the 2500 is identical to the 1000. Have you tried the same thing in OSXL on the 2500? My guess is the bug exists on both. But just a guess.

only diff between 2500 jjos and 1000 jjos is pod size as far as i know feature wise there should be nuthing major u cant do on the 1k

the layout, for me at least, is fantastic on the 2500. pad size were reason i decided to get a 2500 coming from a 1000 (had 2000, 2000xl prior). still love the 1000 to take around anywhere i go though. have jj on both.
