Simult Pads / Am I missing something

Morning.

Have JJOS OS2 on an mpc1000 and saw Nym's video on You Tube yesterday on Simult pads.

Thought I'd give it a try and followed the instructions on the video, and can see the 2 samples assigned to a pad (e.g. Open Hi Hat at velocity 0-64 and Closed Hi Hat at velocity 65-127). So the idea is that I get either an open or closed Hi Hat depending on how hard I hit the pad.
However try as I might - I cannot get this to work - what happens is that one pad always plays regardless of the velocity. Even if I set the velocity thresholds to extreme levels e.g 0-10 for 1 sound 11-127 for another - I still cannot get it to work.
Im at work at the moment and will try again when I get back - but if Im missing something obvious here, I'd welcome someone pointing it out.

Possibly, Im just sure Nym's video referred to it as simult pads though. I'll have another look when I can.

is full level on?

for single pad velocity layerrs, make sure each layer has its own domain e.g. layer 1 100-127 layer 2 50-99 layer 3 0-49 (although these regions can overlap for some techniques). from reading your post it looks like you've done this.
for velocity layers with simult the same principle applies- just make sure the pads are simulted!

you can also double check that the qlink isnt set to layer

also i remember nym demonstrated a technique using note on/off and one shot samples for open closed hihats. holding the pad down lets the entire sample play (open hi hat) but when tapping the pad only the closed hi hat is audible- and not the tail.

I've watched the video and tried on my MPC.

I got no problem to have simulted layers ( I tried with simult2 in os2xl)

mikolo> you can achieve NYM technique with the aftertouch crossfade layer function between layer 1 and layer 2 in the layering window. I recommand setting the pad aftertouch sensitivity at 24 or 25 for that purpose.
