MPC2500 not able to trigger other devices instruments

I just upgraded from my mpc1000 with jj os1 to an mpc2500 with jj osxl

I cannot seem to trigger any of my other gear with it.. Is there something I am not picking up between the two machines?

I have tested the 4 ports by hooking up another mpc1000 and triggering timeclock and it works...

Please if anyone has any info I am going crazy.

Plug cable into MIDI out A, change track from Drum to MIDI, set "MIDI: 1A", turn off program, press a pad.

Unless by "trigger" you mean time sync? In which case, go to MIDI mode, hit SYNC, change Sync out.

The weird thing about the sync is, you have to press play for the linked device to get the change. In the MPC-500 I can tap tempo and see the gear instantly respond, but with JJ OS it doesn't sync out until I hit play.
