converting sequences from akai to jj

Right I've been using akai os and the whole mono chop sample thing has forced me to get jjos. Here's the question...

If I take a project made in akai os, re-chop the samples in jjos and save them to the program where the old chops were, will the sequence now play back exactly the same but with stereo chops in place of the old mono ones?

As far as I can see this should work in theory but has anyone had any probs loading akai projects in jjos?

on os2 and xl it might need some tweeking.. it depends mainly on the AD envelopes becoming ADSR envelopes and whether you've used the 4th velocity layer .

os1 should be fine.... and i cant remember whether the free jjos does stereo chopping or not.

Thanks. I have no idea what most of that meant as I've only had the mpc a couple of weeks. have already made quite alot of music though so dont want to lose it all. suppose i can always covert back if it doesnt work...

Akai os and JJ os1 just have Attack and Decay - you use this to shape the volume of a sound.i.e. you can make it fade in quickly/slowly or fade out out quickly/slowly.

ADSR (attack decay sustain and release ) is in os2 and XL and gives you more control but its basically the same idea.

filters on os 2 behave a little differently.

but os1 will work well with all akai projects.

just tried it and after all that, they sound way better in mono anyway. sound quality of the chops in jjos were awful for some reason, loads of noise and no punch at all....

That's the sample, not the feature or the OS. Like some drumsounds have more punch mono.

yeah some sound better stereo, some mono. definately get a cleaner, punchier sound with mono. doesnt sound as'full' as stereo but gives it that choppy primo type sound.
