Hi All - I'm running a 1000 with JJOS XL... I've had the hard drive installed for about 12 months now no dramas.. yesterday when I turned it on though it just wasnt there... it allows me to scroll through memory card/hard drive but when I select the Hard drive there is no folders, no files and it shows no available memory.. The unit hasnt been moved or messed with - does this sound like random hard drive fail or has someone else had a similar issue??
THANKS!

it could be several things man. the HD, the mpc simply not reading the drive. a corrupt or bad sector. etc

Do you have any computer Savvy?

if so have you tried removing the drive and connecting it to a computer via an external enclosure?
do you have another drive you can try with the mpc to see if the mpc will read ANY drive?

the FIRST thing I would do would just be to remove and reinsert the drive into the mpc.
if that doesn't work you can try the stuff above.

can you hear or feel the drive spin up at all???

if not 4-8 hours in a freezer may help. I know it sounds crazy but its been known to work on occasion.

let us know what you try and what happens.

also let this be a lesson to BACK UP YOUR FILES!!!!!

Good luck

Hey Triple-X - thanks for your suggestions.. I will install it in an external case and see how I go! Will let you know.

I did take it out, put it back in.. The drive does seem to power up which seems strange/scary..

Back up is a must! I have been burnt by other failures in the past and I think (!!) i was pretty up to date with back ups... (eeep)

Hey all - Just a status report - Took the hard drive out and mounted it in an external enclosure, powered it up on my PC and all DATA was there as I left it. Copied it over to a card.
When I loaded the harddrive back into the MPC though - still no dice. Weird.
At least I have all my samples and beats though..
