MPC processor hangups?!

a few days ago i pushed my mpc to the limits and it actually crash like a **** windows freeze
just repeat a small sequence and lock even the volume until poweroff

i was frustrated and did a spaceoutfreakjam.. hmm im sure some of you know what i mean when you just record lots of notes on noterepeats and turn the bpm up to 300 like complete noise-out.

i never experienced a freeze on the mpc before...
have you? could doing like this damage the hardware?


i was abit worried cause just now i was purgeing around 26 samples and it took 2minutes... it have never taken that long time do purge samples before.... they were not that heavy,, some mellotron samples thats all

yeah, had a crash on 2500 2xl 1.21. can't really remember it happening before (only when i send a midi sysex file to on of my synths but thats to be expected).

was just messing around so can't recall all the steps to get it to happen

I had *one* lockup during a show, out of like 100 so far.. this was between loading ALLs.. I think it might have been (?) the bass jumping the hard-disk maybe..

And man, some purges take a long time. I think it might have to do with the order in which samples are stored in RAM.. that is, if you use a bunch of samples early on, replace them, but then they're loaded first, the OS has to jiggle all the RAM around so the free space is in the right bit.. haha that's my monkey-brained guess anyway.. (I only know OS1 though)

But yeah I work with max prog limit most of the time to play like 15 songs (45 min set) of 128MB, I purge all the time when I'm prepping the mpc stuff and sometimes it takes a scary amount of time..

but I really really doubt it you've blown something or anything like that dude..
