Flange when layering same sound on the same pad

It seems whenever i layer the same sound on the same pad whether through SIMULT or layer i get this flange effect on my sound. I think it has to do with velocity but obviously im not sure. Thanks in advance.

or change the start point on one slightly.
i like to make samples phase on the mpc. not so good for drums, put works great for synths. use the sliders to adjust the panning of each sample in real time and resample to make a swirling stereo sample.

When 2 or more samples are assigned to same pad the MPC does not always is able to trigger them at the exact same moment, there is a small delay prob less than 15 miliseconds. two = sounds with a very short delay cause Phase / Flange. (It pisses me off that a machine like a MPC2500 wich cost me a lot a money cant do a simple thing like this...)

I dont see the point of having the same sound with the same parameters twice, it just doubles the volume; but if you really want that, maybe with diferent decay/atack or whaever.. the solution is to tune one of the samples a little bit, if they are not = they dont flange. Although they dont flange the sound might not be very consitent in all pads hits, try for yourself..

Yeah, that's what happens. I don't know if you ever DJ'd, but a common DJ trick is to play two of the exact same records at the same time and you get a cool flnage/phase effect. Do what Pound says and adjust the tuning/pitch on one of the sounds, or just use a different one.

Really though, that's just aural physics, same identical waveform played on the same audio system type stuff.
It's not an mpc limitation, it's life. :lol:

Lampdog as said above i don't see the point of using the same sample in 2 layers, so i don't quite understand the reason behind your 2 last comments and what they added to the discussion.

What i was saying is that the MP should be able to trigger 2 layered sounds (different or not) at the same exact moment when you press the pad, simple.

^^^depends on how exact you are with the concept of 'same'. but the idea of layering up the same sound with slight detuning or other slight variation is a standard trick in synths and samplers for making fat, rich sounds.

True. The same technique with the 2 sounds shifted to Left and Right Speaker is also common. Its usually referred as widening or Fattening...

What im trying to do is fatten my sound of my kicks and snares thats why i wanna layer same sounds. I did it always when i used my ASR 10 and never had that issue.

Can someone give any advice on whats the best way i can be able to fatten my sounds in the MP ?? sounds thin to me.
