I just found a way to do parallel compresion on the mpc1000. It makes the compressor much more useful. Thought id share it:

fx1: delay, delay level: ZERO
to fx2: yes
fx2: compressor

now sweep the send level and compressors gain to make the mix.

too bad it uses two fx slots tho. JJ???

HAHA! Funk E-technician i love u man! I was just experimenting with emulating sidechaining with a "sound" that goes to 1 and stays there to trigger the compressor! Thank you VERY VERY much!!

(Edit)

This works on the MPC-500 with the original software to.

Happy pumping.

No dirty minds please!

Sooooo. with the delay on fx 1 delay set to zero and the compressor on 2/.....Itll play the sample as if it was untouched ...and the comp adds a secound track so to say.....Hmmmmm....Is this coerrect.....?

Come on people. Don't you have your mpc in front of you? Its all there in the first post. Just use the known panning method for ducking, if thats what you want.

Here you go:

for instance

Drums:

level: 100, pan: R50, out: ST, fx: fx1, send: 50 (e.g.)

Bass:

level: 50 (e.g.), pan: L50, out: ST, fx: fx2

Only use the left out of the stereo pair.
