certain type of loop mode exists on jjos?

hey there everybody.

i use my sp-404 a lot. one of the simple features i love about it is the loop mode which you can choose when triggering samples. if a sample is in loop mode, you can hit the pad, and it plays, endlessly loops, until you hit the pad again and it stops.

is this possible with jjos at all? maybe even with loop points too?

There is a way to do this... It's just a little strange, and takes a little getting used to. You need to have your sample looped in the trim page. Then you need to have the sample assigned to note on in the program mode. Here's the tricky part: You need to make sure the curser is in a place on the main screen where you are able to enter numbers. Right on the sequence selection area is a good place. Then when you play the sample, while still holding the pad down, hit the numeric button. You can then release the pad and it should play endlessly untill you hit that pad again or press the stop button three times really quickly. You can also hit the numeric button again to stop the flashing. You can also add as many samples as you want. You can also hold several pads at the same time and they will all loop. The best thing about this is that you can have whatever pads you want loop, and still play the other pads normally. Instead of having all pads either loop or play normally... Good luck, and let me know what you think.

Just curious, can you loop some of the samples on the 404 and play the other pads normally? I think on the Fantom it's one or the other.-

mpc 2500 does not have numeric key.

There is a way to do it on mpc 2500 as well. I have a 2500.
I'm just trying to find the post from a few months ago.....

Ahh right.. that Spanish video shows that you have to press 'track mute' in place of the 1000's numeric key. I don't know how he gets it to record though because when I press 'track mute' it turns overdub off (using JJOS2XL v1.24)

So, you're saying that that is you in the video and that you are using JJOS2 which enables you to press 'track mute' without it being taken out of overdub?

is this the same in the OS2 or OS2XL?
It is kinda confusing using the numeric key, also it than sets the sequence number to the PAD Number I pressed.
Could this go into a feature request, its the one thing thats nice on the Roland SP Series, simple looping...

EDIT: I just tried that in OS2 without luck. How can I loops my pads in there?
Installed OS2XL and there it works fine.
But the whole grid edit looks messed up in XL and it took me some time to find the right pattern pages. This makes it hard to decide between OS2 and XL, havent bought either right now.

no straight loop on/off mode? damn. seems like a basic mode that would be in there.

I use straight OS 2 and it works. You may want to try holding the erase button while powering on once you've loaded in the OS you want. It just clears any glitches, as well as setting all preferances to the default settings. Not a big deal to put your settings back. It should work. Peace
