trim mode, chopping up, lose all chops back to main screen..

this is such a bullshlt thing that's occuring..

i'm chopping up a big sample(doesn't really matter how big), but the big ones i spend the most time on..

and in my constant (shift+left/right - zoom) (up/down - zoom) and selecting the next/last slice..

i'm working moderately fast most the time, but this happens when i'm really careful too....

the mp exits out of trim mode and to the main screen!!!!!!

losing all the chops i been adjusting for fuk knows how long..

pressing shift kinda hard does it, so i am extra careful and precise on the buttons when chopping..

but i have just realised that pressing the shift button a certain way triggers window/mainscreen i think.

i have already installed a new right side pcb board a while ago btw..


but has anyone else experienced this???


this has caused me to chop all my big samples in recycle, which isn't bad but i love chopping and doing everything inside the mp when possible..

it's just the most god damn annoying bug to happen after you've spent 20 minutes chopping up something crazy, then to have it jump back to main screen makes me want to give up on what ever i'm doing.. feel me?

I don't know if it's a hardware or software issue, but maybe consider upgrading your os to 2 or xl. You just wouldn't encounter the problems you're having if you use non-destructive chop.

how is non-destructive chop btw.. upsides, downsides if you will?

I've only just started using it, but I can't see me chopping long samples any other way from now on.

As far as I can tell you get a maximum of 32 chops (which are already assigned 1-32 to the pads), you then adjust your start/end points for chops but with the ability to overlap samples (which is quality)... create a new program and it's done.

Nothing actually chopped and fully editable.

non destructive chop is good - but you cant assign loop points to each individual chop, like you can with destructive chops. This is an imporant factor for me cause i use alt loops to extend the tails of most chops. I use it to test out ideas before commiting to destructive chops so i can use looped samples. It'd be cool if you could just convert an ndc sample to chopped samples.

It could be that your mpc needs a factory reset - press erase while you turn on every time you update yoyr os.

It could be a bug - but highly unlikely given the amount of time os1 has been out- and given the fact that chopping is a pretty everyday thing for most mpc users. Check that your using the latest version (4.99).

It could be a hardware issue e.g. something electrical that causes one button to trigger another - in this case the shift key triggering the main key for instance.

I have had this happen to me, randomly, for ever, whether I use JJOS1, JJOS2, JJOS2XL.. it's always happened.

For me, it jumps to any random screen... not just the main page and it tends to be after I pressed an F key -.-
It happens once a night at least.. Total PITA, especially if I just spent 5-10 minutes chopping something up.

And yeah, NDC aint an option; I normally loop my chops for tails, etc like mikolo sez. It would be good to be able to extract all your NDC chops and/or be able to loop them.

My workflow stays the same... It's just a pain when it happens cos I gotta go and do my chops again... so I'm feelin the OP, but I still chop in the mpc cos I find it tons quicker than doin it on the comp and then importing to the mpc. Doin it in the mpc is quick, easy and on-the-spot flow-tastic
Advice to OP; when uv got a long sample to chop, first chop it in into half or more parts, then chop the parts... that way, if this jump bug happens you won't lose as much time.
