In OS-XL there's still the problem where if you turn the data wheel while a pad is down it switches sequences. This a major problem in workflow because I need to turn the wheel while hitting the pad to do things like audition new sounds. So I always end up accidentally switching sequences.

Can we please decide how to fix this and get it pushed through for the next update? This should be very easy to change, we just need to agree on the best fix.

I'd like to propose that instead of holding down a pad and turning the wheel to change a sequence, you hold down the "NEXT SEQ" button, turn the wheel, it changes sequences, and when you release you are taken to the main screen of that sequence. The reason why I think this is the best fix is because this button already does that, except for taking you to the main screen, and it's called "Next Sequence". It already mostly does this, but when you release the button you're still in the Sequence screen when you want to be back at main.

So, all we have to request is:

1. Remove feature for holding down pad and turning datawheel to change sequence
2. When you are on the main screen and hold down "NEXT SEQ", turn the data wheel, and release "NEXT SEQ", it should take you back to the main screen of that sequence.

That's it. That should be very easy to change in the code and then you can hit the pads all you want while changing things in the main screen with the data wheel without it switching sequences on you and messing up your workflow.

Do you agree? If not, please propose your own fix, and when we agree we send this to JJ and get it done.

Hi Murai,

I am one of the users of MPC-forums.com. We have agreed that we do not like the following addition made in OS2XL version 1.15:

OS2XL Version 1.15 <Addition>
1. Change of a sequence can be performed if a DATA wheel is turned pressing a pad.

It is very bad. The sequence changes by accident when we turn the data wheel and press a pad to audition samples.

SOLUTION-- Please remove this feature. If JJ would like to keep the feature, please make "change of a sequence can be performed if a DATA wheel is turned pressing NEXT SEQUENCE BUTTON.

Thanks again!

It is returned by the next version.
PAD+DATA wheel = Samples Audition
Moreover, if a jog is turned holding a "NEXT SEQ" button, it will change so that a sequence can be changed.

Hmm.

Ya I'm not sure if it's the poor English, or if he's actually saying the pad + wheel will be changed to something new, where it auditions samples. Pad + wheel shouldn't do anything at all, because the wheel is how you change values, and we want to be able to be tapping pads while quickly changing values without it randomly doing other stuff.

I just sent this:

Thanks but just to make sure, we want PAD+DATA wheel = nothing. It shouldn't do anything.

Then for NEXT SEQ + DATA wheel = Same as it is now, but it goes back to main screen when you release NEXT SEQ.

Jamon-- I sent something similar when they responded to me. Did you get a new response? I'm posting what I got,, not sure how to take it,,

"PAD + DATA wheel = samples audition"
This is behavior by the main pad fields.
It is the same behavior as Ver1.15.

Hmm. Identical to yours, but 4 instead of 5.

I think maybe they know what we're talking about, and it's just being lost in translation. What did pad + wheel do < 1.15? It sounds like they'll revert back to that.

It's just that "samples audition" that bothers me. I think he must mean, it'll play samples without disrupting it, but, to me in English it makes me think of a shortcut for auditioning samples. Like, if you hold a pad and turn the wheel it'll change the sample for the pad while playing it, so you can quickly cycle through them. Is that what it did in 1.14?

I just want PAD + WHEEL = NO SHORTCUTS. Put shortcuts in places where they don't interfere with basic stuff, leave pads alone unless it's with a button you'll never hit while hitting a pad so there's no chance of interference.

Okay, good shiit,,, Murai wrote me again. It was a typo he meant YES it will be the same as in 1.14. In 1.14 the PAD + DATA did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Haha, I'm psyched. It was a little lost in translation but I'm confident they're finally fixing this,,, this,,, mistake of an addition.
