constant note on for midi channel

Hi,

sometimes I do drones and would like to know if there is a simple method of sending a constant "note on" signal in a midi track?
It should start at point X and last the whole track, lets say 30bars.
Is there a function for someething like that?

Do you need a note on without the note off? Thats not possible from within the mpc.

Try adjusting the release of the synth to max, that helps with some synths.

Or you could latch the note by disconnecting midi while the note plays (note off wont reach the synth)

As for a long note, 30 bars is just a little to long, max length for a note on the mpc is 9999 pulses = 26 bars.

maybe I should disconnect the Blofeld from the MPC, but that will make me loose the whole sequencing thing.
I have to try the latch thing, thats how I worked when I didnt have the MPC, just latch a patch in multimode and switch to the other channel.
Or i can find a clean looppoint.

can the MPC record MIDI sustain pedal? Hold your note, hold the sustain pedal down for as long as you want and the MPC records that info. . Maybe?

Forgot about that, this might be the solution.
Switch the option "Sustain pedal to duration" to "No" (mode->other->misc) and the sustain pedal will be recorded.
Or just add the events in step edit, cc number 64, value 127 for on, 0 for off.

that did work nice, I had to add a note after I entered these values.
Seems a clean way to create some drones, it even loops fine without hearing any disturbance.
