MPC1000 JJ0S1 FOOTSWITCH QUERY...

Hi All,

A quick one, i want to add a footswitch to my set up, i am a live drummer running x3 pd8 trigger pads and Roland TMC6 Midi converter etc just need to know the following answers:

1. What pedal do you recommend i use in this case? Have read these are ideal - Roland FS-5U/-5L or FS-6??

2. Am i able to just plug the footswitch straight into MPC & assign the note/sample i want to trigger using the supplied cable direct? I presume this will work as i'm running a cable to Midi In A on my MPC to my TMC-6 Midi Out...

OR

Do i need to another input cable going directly into my TMC-6 like all my Pd8 trigger pads are already?

Any advice, suggestions are much appreciated.

there is a page in the MPC menu that allows you to scroll all the switch assignments. DOnt know them all off the top..

the thing takes note of what type of fsw you have upon start up. you want one that is non latching, but beyond that its all gravy. Even drum trigger pads that send out a trigger pulse should work. (But I'm not sure of how big a pulse you want to send into the machine)

MIDI pedals are a different world. ..

plug 'er in and give it a try. you'll get it.

Any foot pedal will do, as long as it's built right, and you have the polarity right, or get one with switchable polarity.

BTW, I do have a pedal, and IMO it doesn't really give a realistic sound. When using a pedal to trigger pads you are stuck at full velocity, and you are at the mercy of the sensitivity and build of your foot pedal. Not saying it's not going to work, but it may not be ideal.

hmmm, interesting opinion...
but what if u just want to use MIDI
pedal to trigger sequences, record audio loops
and trigger/mute Tracks for having hands FREE
to play other Live instruments....
I know that its still imposdible to RECORD
Any Audio tracks without stopping on any JJ OS yet...
really hope JJ is planning it in near future....

Otherwise, what LIVE setup do u guys suggest to use
that would allow to record MPC and Live sound sources
together on THE fly?
i know you would say Ableton Live,
but what if i prefer to stay withing Hardware
domain for Live use?

hey all, quick update i finally picked up a Roland FS5U to trigger sounds from my MPC1000 and it works a treat:)

Just another curious question about other footswitches i could use with midi? I run a TMC6 Roland Midi converter to my MPC already etc so yeah any cool suggestions let me know. Peace.
