Brand Noob 1000 owner

Wassup World!!

After about two years of researching, reading, and saving I finally bought a 1000!! ..... In all honesty I have absolutely no clue what I'm doin as of yet so yall bare w/ me when/if I ask the noob questions.

So first question......I'm sittin here just playin w/ the out-the-box OS for a couple hrs and from just about everything I've read it seems as if the JJOS is better.....if you were in my situation would you learn the stock OS then xfer to JJ or would you save the heartache, jump to JJOS, and start learning that. I'm a clean slate so I feel like whatever I start learning I'm going to stick with so I just want to hear some of yalls opinion on the matter.....'preciate it!

if you plan on buying the JJOS, why would you wait untill you completely learned the akai OS first?


I mean use the mpc cause you bought it and once you realize you need the JJOS i guess buy it. dont just leave the 1000 sit there untill you buy the JJOS or nuthin.

use what you got.

oh im usin it man....I havent been able to put this thing down since I unboxed it. You have a good point though I guess there's just no point in learning the akai OS. JJOS definitely looks like a badass OS though I'll give it a try.

I'm about to buy that "Beat Making on the MPC1000" eBook here in a sec......gotta do some research first & make sure that book references the JJOS.

yo man, trial and error is where it's at...

Just for the sake of knowing it, learn the Akai OS. What will it hurt? You might actually realize that you can get by just as well with the Akai OS. Even if you do decide to go with JJ OS later on, what happens of you end up using an MPC elsewhere that isn't running JJ OS, you know the ins and outs of the Akai OS as well. This is just a suggestions. This is what I did with my 2500. I refused to even download JJ OS until I learned the Akai OS, although I've switched over to JJ OS.

Again, just a suggestion.

the akai and JJ free are very similar, to the poin thtat the usr manual is pretty much 100% on point.

go for the free JJ asap, and then if you need more features, jump to 2

Did you purchase a warranty with your new 1k? if so i believe installing JJOS voids the warranty.. im fairly new to the mpc but i just purchased jjos1 from the jump and haven't looked back. also the "beat making for the mpc 1000" ebook is geared for the akai os and free jjos.

don't waste a second on that crap akai os. it has serious bugs, less features, a crappy interface, and makes the whole experience of learning & using the MPC much more difficult.

you already have so much to learn about the MPC, why make the process more difficult on yourself? the free JJ os is weaker compared to the others so at least get JJ os 1, tho i would recommend going with either os 2 or 2xl as they are the most powerful.

The tutorial books sold here do reference the jjos 3.08. The book is worth every cent. And once you know 3.08, it's natural to slide on up to OS 1.........

You can always revert to the old OS and no one will no the that you ever had JJ on it ;p
Even if you expanded the RAM, you can stil put the factory RAM back in and no one would know the diff
