Easiest Way To Make Drum Programs

right now, everytime i make a beat i'm using that mpc pad 187 program to create my kits but its just becoming so time consuming each time and annoying... how do you guys go about doing it each time? i feel like if i loaded all my drums onto my current SD card, there would be barely any room left, and thats assuming that they even fit.

One you've made a program just save it....

you don't have to make a new drum program everytime....

you could also use something called bluebox, just google it. You might also wanna grab yourself an internal HD. you'll never need to use your sd card ever again. even 30 gig is more than enough, I got all mine including install kit for about 30 quid.

I build mine in the mpc too. I find it faster than messing about with my computer.
Also, I have a 120gig HD in my mpc2500. I haven't used a CF card once since I bought the HD a couple of years ago.

with a 1000 you need to buy an install kit to hold the hd. I did anyway.

one more thing, if you really wanna save some time then grab jjos2xl (if you don't have it already) I can chop up a break of like 20 single hits perfectly in under 5 mins including zooming in to get rid of clicks and create a new program all with non destructive chop.

i have JJOS2, not XL though... all i mean is, i just chop up breaks with audacity and i don't keep them in kits, i just choose random hits and tune them accordingly. so i just want a better way to choose each hit, and it sounds like i need to get a HD to do that so i can just put all my hits right on the MPC.

you can also try mpc maid, lets you make a pgm and assign the chops on any pad you like, our like your fellow member said chop in your mp & when done make a new pgm!

do you need a hardrive? i have a 2 gig card in my 1000 and after 18 months of sampling like crazy and recording many 8-bar synth melodies and basslines there is still plenty of room left.

i got a 4gb and it got full super fast, even after deleting all the throw away beats. could be my way of saving but either way, i save all my shit usually.

i was gonna go with that solid slate style drive i think, is there any reason NOT to do it like that?

Depends how much space you need dunnit.
I have a samples folder and a projects folder. Whenever I take samples for a new project I always save entire memory into a new folder in the projects folder... so I have a lot of redundancy.. but it means I can alter the samples per project, plus I know everything for each project is in it's own folder.. That's the goodness of having nuff space. I've still only used 11 gig of my 120 gig HD though :P
