jjos screen unreadable

So i downloaded the free jjos operating system. however when i put it on my mpc 1000 the screen was so faint you could barely read it? has this happened to any of you? I had to go back to the akai operating system.

somewhere i read you hold stop and hit your data wheel maybe this will help. but i also read that you cant save anything on the free version? is that true. so basically u have to buy the greater versiona nd teh free one is only a demo? whats the point?

The free one is NOT a demo, it's fully functional, and totally shits on the AKAI OS. It's a perfect bridge between the original operation of the machine and the higher functions of OS1. I've considered OS2, and tried 2xl, but honestly OS1 is amazing. A few things took a little getting used to but search this site and you'll come up with whatever you need.

But yeah hold stop and turn the data wheel till u like it, then hit the MAIN button to store it. There are numerous functions stored by hitting the MAIN button, so put hitting it a couple times (to make sure) in your routine after you change anything.

And grab the JJOS manual from that other thread. Memorize that beeyatch. You REALLY wanna be up on it grab the MPC 1000 tutorial from here. Worth every penny.

thanks for teh reply i was also wondering do i keep the os file on the hard disk when i am trying to boot up the free jjos one? or will it just read the old one. also is the free one just the generic download i have seen. Also I have the manuel for it its a pdf online tutorial one i believe.

also i heard it can be buggy and u might get error messages when trying to save they day to reformat your hard disk or soemthign liek that is it a big hassle i am not sure how to reformat etc.

I bought my 1000 with the free JJOS installed, used it for the last year or so and its totally cool man, I'm pretty sure the save errors etc that you're talking about are a glitch on the akai OS not the free JJ, just what I've read around the forum I could be wrong but yeah I've never had any thing go wrong on mine. I'll get OS1 or 2 some time but at the moment the freebie does everything I need. There's a really good comparison page some where on here putting all OS's head to head, and the akai OS is definitely bottom of the heap

Are you running the latest free JJOS, if you're on an older version he may not have squashed all of the save bugs. I'd just check to make sure you're up to date.
