Help Re-Sampling/Master EQ and Compression

I'm having a problem with the Master EQ and Compression when Re-sampling.

I have both the Master EQ and Compression ON when playing my beat in Main and it sounds good, and I spend a lot of time mixing to get it that way, but then when I go to Re-sample the beat so I can export it to my laptop, the frequency comes out all screwed up and way louder in all frequency ranges after recording.

The bass becomes so loud the it almost blows my speakers and the treble becomes ear piercing. Also the overall output is louder.

This is just with the standard EQ settings that auto load when you turn it on. The High is set +3 and the Low is set +5, so that might be why its louder in those ranges, but my question is why does it sound fine when playing in Main?

It makes it impossible to make anything, because just when I think I got it right, I go to re-sample and it comes out all messed up, and I don't want to have to go back and forth mixing/mastering before and after re-sampling.

Even then, if I turn the levels down or turn EQ OFF, then Re-sample it sounds better, but still not the same as I had it sounding when I made it.

I think the Compression may play a factor too, but doesn't seem to affect it as much as the EQ.

Does anybody else have this problem and/or know how to fix it?

By curiosity at which level is set the output level of your mpc in the MODE OTHER (pad10)?
You got quite a strange problem but my thought is maybe you're not hearing you got saturation on your speakers and when it's resampled it's all **** up.

Otherwise common sense is to set MASTER COMP and EQ OFF and to process mixing in a DAW.

thanks, what do you mean by saturation on my speakers?

i'm using headphones, but are you saying that its picking up something from my headphones when recording main out?

when i record into it by analog it doesn't seem to pick anything up, but i think i'll just do it in ableton like you said. its annoying though because it autoloads EQ and COMP ON and sometimes i forget and make whole beat with it on, then realize after and its **** up. oh well, have to make sure i turn it off when powering up.

You didn't answer my question but if your master output level is set at 0db you'd better lower it to -6 or -12db.

Fixed.

Of course it has midi input clock sync.
It has MIDI CLOCK or MTC sync IN and OUT.
It even has MMC in and out.

Keep in mind that everything plays through the master effects, including resamples played in Trim mode or any other mode. It sounds like the sequence is getting resampled through the master effects, and then playing through the master fx again and getting over-effected.

Make sure you turn the compression/eq etc OFF after you resample.

related to your comment here, are the master comp and eqs on the mpc2500 JJOS not good enough to use if you're looking to record straight to a 2 track for demo purposes? And Im talking handing a demo to an artist to consider in their project/album etc so it'd be important to get the sound pretty good.

I want to start moving away from the daw altogether and just record the semi final mix out of the MPC2500 JJOS. Seem doable in your opinion?

I agree with medearis. It's doable.

It depends on what you're seeking. Personally I still don't use MASTER comp and eq.

It's possible to do a decent mix inside the MPC. What do you want to do with master settings? Because if the source is good enough you can correct inside the mpc at the mixing stage and not use master settings.

If you render a stereo track internally, the overall level will be relatively low. It could be a problem for those who listen to demos at high volume. You'd have no choice than maximising it in a software. If the artist knows he's listening to a straight rendering from the MPC at a low level then no problem.

For me master EQ and COMP could be useful in a live context or if I had to straightly record to tape. Otherwise if the aim is to put my recording in my computer, I prefer to use a software afterwards.
