More JJ OS removing....

Hi all, so I just bought and received a second hand 2500 from ebay, it has jj os installed on it, but I'd rather put it back to the akai os. my question is, can I do the process with a cf card? the unit has a 60gb hard drive installed. thanks.

everyone on here will tell u to keep the jj os, it is more advanced then akai's, better streamlined and just simply out performs akai, 98% will agree, play with it for a while

Yeah everyone says keep it, but I'm new to the mpc's I kinda wanna learn with the original os and then I'll be able to compare, so can I reinstall it without a cf card?

unless u have the origanal jj os password it will cost money, going back to the akai will cripple your learning trust us, its why this site is here

Ok you seem quite insistent about the JJ, however is there such thing as a quick start or basic manual for jj os, coz like I said I'm new to these things and could really do with somethin like that

dude most of the basic features are the same between both OS's its counter productive to use Akai's os. Use the manual as a reference regarding the basic features and you will be fine. Trust me.

we're just tryin to save u time and possibly money, but like pound said, most features are the same the just add more features to the os or improve things like chopping and q limks

What version of JJ is installed? It should say on the start up screen.

The only reason I ask is because if you have a fully paid up OS2XL then you can switch between any version with ease.

I don't think you need to re-enter the password if you re-install the Akai OS then install JJOS again - doesn't it remember the previously entered password?

honestly havent tried but didnt think so if u cleared it from the ram and went back akai os, i can switch between jj os's for sure

yes it says on his page somewhere, its burnt into some weird bit of the memory maybe a spare bit of the "internal sound" memory or something.
just be thankful the previous owner bought JJOS and you haven't got to shell out for it. And just use it, there are some many improvements, little things as well like NAMING SAMPLES works so much better.

i tried using my S3000xl the other day and kept wiping over the previous sample because you have to name it first, not bothered I was bored but even still kinda kills the vibe.

it's not stored in ram

if it was, you wouldn't be able to switch between jjos versions, or even reboot, because when you turn it off it would forget the password

the OS is not stored in ram, and the password to unlock the OS is not stored in ram either
