Pressing a pad -> sends MIDI CC instead of NoteOn/NOteOff

Is it possible to send a value of MIDI CC , by pressing a pad , instead of sending MIDI NoteOn / NOteOff messages ?

I do have MIDI controllers (Evolution MK425c, Akai APC40, etc.) but I didn't find any solution on them to send CC 127/0 instead of NoteOn / Off !
That's why I hoped that it would be possible to do it with my MPC...

you need a more advanced controller. i'm pretty sure the novation remote sl series can do this. download the manual and check it out.

it might not be a bad idea for a jj request to allow the mpc to transmit a certain cc on pad press and a different one on pad release.

you could have the cc's recorded onto an otherwise blank track and unmute using the track mute screen. thats the nearest you'd get to this on the mpc currently. you could even name the tracks to identify your chosen cc easily.

Good idea, I did not know ! How to send these aftertouch modulations ?
Will Ableton see these modulation as Midi CC ? If so, it's great.

What I want to do is :
* When I press (and hold) a pad , a Device in Ableton is ON
* When I release a pad, the device is OFF

This "momentary switch" behaviour is impossible in Ableton Live with NoteOn/off messages. But it is possible if the controller sends MIDI CC value = 127 or 0 .

it will be hard to have a decent control of a toggle ON\OFF with pad pressure i think...im gonna give it a try, and get back at you soon.

midi mapping of parameters does not include aftertouch, im sorry.
seems like there isnt a quick solution for what you need.
you can suggest to jj a feature in which you can set pads to generate cc messages.
or: you can mess with max for live and change the behaviour of the midi mapping so that they react both to midi note on and note off messages, where note on=switch on and note off=switch off.
if i come up with some workaround i'll keep you posted.
