Sample not looping smoothly over a bar.

OK here's the problem.

I know from my Wave Editor that this sample loops perfectly.

I load it into my MPC JJOS 1.4.3 and try to tweak a four bar sequence so it loops seamlessly

BUT

at the end of the fourth bar the MPC always cuts the sound a tiny bit.

I never used to have this problem - a sample which trailed a bit over the end of a bar would simply play over the top of the front of the first bar.

NB I made sure the Release envelope was set to 0 (the default adds a little fade)

The only way I could get it to work properly was to assign the sample as a NOTE ON (as opposed to the default ONE SHOT) and in the Step Edit change the duration to the sample's entire length.

Anyway, if it's a bug it sucks. If not could people tell me how to fix it in a less painful way? Maybe someone could try it and see if I'm not hallucinating?

change these settings to get it how you want it:

"Mute Type: Note on"
"Mute/stop of one-shot sample=IMMEDIATE"

also if the sample or pgm is set to mono in Program Edit - then it will cut off the sample every time it is retriggered

the loop still cuts off very briefly at the end of the fourth bar.



i want to get it looping seamlessly. this always used to work. i might try an earlier version of JJOS just to check.

just tried and it is the same with 1.2.4

ah ha! the sample was set as a loop in trim.

Generally speaking on the MPC, Loops are supposed to be played with the NOTE ON function. Even if JJ brings Loop with one shot on the trim mode and loop with the bank button in main screen, there may be incompatibility issues and you'd better stick with the old NOTE ON method in my opinion.

no this is still broken. and it's not me.

samples shouldn't cut off as bars loop. they should trail over.

very annoying indeed.

Is your tempo set properly?

Also, the MPC isn't sample accurate, so it won't always play exactly perfectly every loop.

I don't have my mpc in front of me but I think there's a setting in the other mode where you can change "seq end", "seq length" and "as played" properties.

Did you check that already?

My method consists in making it LOOP in TRIM MODE, then recording it in a sequence and finally adjusting the BPM.

If you use the mpc as your main gear it's better to do that rather than doing it in the computer.

I am facing this problem as long as i have my mpc....
try to:
1) set the release to 0
2) set the pad to be NOTE ON
3) record the note in full length
OR
use the sample in the audio track

i found no other solution but all above works fine...

under OS 1.4.6 suddenly seems to be working properly!

a triggered sample does not cut off at the end of a bar.

I have the same problem!

Lets say i have a sample that i know is 88 BPM (4 bars) and i want i too loop over 4 bars in the mpc.

Its making a short fade out at the end and yes i have also make sure the "Release envelope was set to 0 (the default adds a little fade)"


I have also tried to chop a drum break that i know i is 88 bpm (16 chops) and when i play/record it from pad 1 to pad 16 i can hear a small fade in/ fade out.

I'm running the latest JJosXL (1.46)

works ok here,
just setting a simple break for 4 bars,
sample/pad set to mono and one shot
(or note on - and with the duration ((in step edit)) must be the correct duration exactly),
trim not set to loop,
seq set to loop,
tempo set correctly,
sample loops fine.

try again, detail it all like this, u might get results.
