So, I got me a midi controller, an MPC1000 and an external sound module. Everything works fine independently. All the settings are correct and everything has communicated together efficiently in the past. However, the interesting thing here, is that, the three pieces of equipment only communicate properly together after they have been on for an hour or two hours.
From initial power-up, midi does not communicate from the controller, thru the MPC, to the external module. So I mess around on the MPC for awhile, using the pads to trigger sounds - and every now and then hitting a couple keys on the controller to see if any midi information is being sent to the module via the MPC. Sometimes, I'll get a little blip on the module showing communication from the controller, but when I push a bunch of keys, nothing happens. Now about 30 minutes after start up, I try using the controller again. I get a sound here, I get a sound there, most of the time it's haning notes and I have to switch the patch on the module to stop it. It is very strange. Furthermore, I never switched any of the connections; never changed anything. Everything was the same as it was from the last time I used it........when everything worked properly. So it seems that when I shut everything down and return to it at a later time, I have to go through the same process of waiting for everything to "warm" up.........it works, then it doesn't, so frustrating.
