auto normalize

What do u think about adding auto normalize to the 2500? I know the 4000 has it. I think it would be nice to have on the 2500 let me know what u think about that

No need for auto normalize. Sometimes (depending on the level of sample you record) the normalize brings out too much noise. I wouldn't want my MPC to do this automatically.

I think you misunderstand this function. Normalize is always a good thing and wont add any noise, you just have to turn down the volume in program mode.

"Always" a good thing? I dunno about that. I typically always normalize my kicks / snares, BUT only when I have a clean signal in the first place. Example: If you normalize a soft snare with a slight hiss in the background, the result will be a louder snare with louder hiss. Normalize doesn't differentiate between a sound you want and noise. It brings everything up to 0db (or -3db).

OK I like normalize yes.
but anything with Bass over tones or ambiance suffers from floor noise... like mad!
an Algorithm that detects the TYPE of sample would be nice, which ONE specific preset would trigger.
so A "BASS centric" (kicks subs, bass), "Mid High centric" and "Full Range".
thats if I you want to go there.

P.S. the Bass centric should be normalized between -12db and -6db to avoid wave shaping when WE prepare for mix down and Pre Master, or else there's NO headroom to mix with the rest of OUR tracks.

It'd be good to have the normalize function (in TRIM screen) in db rather than in percentage, but I don't have a desire for auto normalize.

p.s. did you know that if you put your cursor over the normalize value, hit a number on the keypad then press the - or +, the normalize value goes up and down in 1% steps. I dunno whether it normalizes in the 1% steps or still sticks to the 10% normalize value.
