can't find product i.d. #?

as you can probally tell by this question i am totally new to the world of the mpc. i few weeks ago i purchased a mpc 1000 (all black) from guitar center. i spent time and read most of the book (im still digging into that). i upgraded the ram to 128. and now i want to install jj os 1 4.99. when i go to mode+pad 3 save like jj says i can't get my product i.d. #. does this mean my mpc is used or i'm i just a dumb @$$? if anybody can help me i would appreciate it. also heres one more dumb question. when i got my new ram i just installed it like the vedios on youtube show. everything seems to be normal. is that it or did i miss a step? thanks to all the vets in this forum for helping out the rookies.

I dug a little deeper in the forum and found the answer to my question. I had to download jj os 1 first in order to get my product i.d. number. thanks forum.
