2500 Audio Tracks

I just got my 2500 in the mail the other day and immediately installed jj os 1. I have a 1k and have been working with jj os since it came out. The one major difference between the 2 is that there are a few audio tracks that are missing!! This seriously jacks up the cross over ability from the 1k to the 2.5k. Is this correct? Did I download the wrong os file, or is there really less audio tracks? That doesn't make sense to me. I downloaded version 3.10 from here:

your mpc1000 obviously had a registered version of JJOS1 or higher... the version you've downloaded is the free version which is stripped-down and only offers 4 audio tracks. you're gonna have to buy JJOS for your 2500 if you want more audio tracks than what the free version offers...

Yeah I just downloaded the free version. I read that it was free so I thought what I had was it. Thanks for the heads up man. Peace...

Thanks man. I found it after realizing there were more than 1 version of os1. That site is still a bit difficult to navigate. They jacked them prices up for real. I think I paid $30 for the os1 when it first came out for my 1k. I couldn't even find the price for os 1, but xl looks like its over $100!! That is nuts.

when you buy xl for the 2500 you also get os1 & os2 with it. that is why the price is so high. for the 1000 he still sells the os's seperately, but for the 2500 you have to get it as a package deal.

That's some dirty ish right there. I don't want os2. I never used it on the 1k, and don't need it on the 2.5k. I really can't justify a fricken $100 purchase for an operating system, even as great as it is. **** Windows XP don't cost that much. JJ got me stuck man. That sucks.

XL on the 2500 is well worth the money... and spending the time learning how to use it.

I personally wouldn't spend $113 on OS1, so maybe download the XL demo and see if it's worth making the jump.

I dropped the cash for it. OS2 looks cool, but I can't open certain projects with it, so I guess I would have to train myself to load OS2 and work on something. I don't know if either one of them are worth $123, but the free version is crap, and Akai's OS is, well, you know. Dog gone supply and demand is a **** sometimes isn't it?? HAHA

OK, the chord thing is dope. So is the appregiator. I didn't see that coming!

Also check out 'numeric key customise', 'non-destructive chop' and 'global program edit'. All really nice functions.

i just saw in the jj manual the other day about 'audio tracks,' but it failed to really explain what they do.
would anyone mind enlightening me?
is it the ability to put sounds on a sequence without having to make a program for it 1st?

yeah thats basically it. sample audio in live and it becomes part of your sequence..

never messed with it but there is alot of creative potential with that.

oooh, so you could bang a mic'd (through mic pre, compressor, to rec in) in drum for a few bars, then it goes straight into loop, the same as when you bang the pads of a program?
this requires some investigation.
