OK, first a little context - got an MPC1k with JJOS 3.12 and been diligently working my way through the 'Beat Making....' tutorials. There are a couple of issues that aren't clear to me and I've been unsuccessful in searching for an answer. Please help!
The reason I've really bought an MPC is for computer-free multitracking - I basically want to record (as audio) my synth and bass guitar playing in order to assemble the clips into tracks. Drums will mostly be provided by my two drum machines which will be synced to the MPC. Can I record into the MPC whilst playing back the other sequences on it?
The 'Beat making....' tutorials have gone into great detail about BPM matching in order to make sampled loops fit together, but can I simply take a sample which I know is (e.g.) 4 bars long and play it back for 4 bars at the tempo of the MPC without having to spend ages manually chopping things up?
Can anyone recommend any resources other than the 'Beat Making....' ones which are more oriented toward electronic/techno music rather than laborious slicing of breakbeats?
