Hi all, i am trying to update my MPC with JJOS 4.99L but a few things happened - Here goes:

I did it via Mac, backed up HD so all cool there.

1. Downloaded updated file and dragged it to my mac desktop then dragged to MPC icon on desktop, simple.
2. MPC Screen said "accessing" every few seconds and that's it nothing else.
3. I hit load then my Mac said "device removal wasn't done correctly"... so MPC dropped out.
4. I reloaded and it still shows JJ OS4.99 so i don't know if it has updated or not?? the binary file i dragged across is sitting in my hd files.

Whatever assistance anyone can offer is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

did you ejected the disk from the mac correctly?
i had to reconnect it again, wait until mac checked the drive, eject it propery and it was ok then...

Thx for the reply, i had no luck with my mac so i tried my PC here is the steps i took:

1. Dragged the updated Binary file to my MPC1000
2. Selected binary file in folder then hit DO IT.
3. It comes up with OS UPDATE - This writes OS to flash memory. The process requires system restart. All memory contents will be lost.
4. I backed up my harddisk in case then i hit DO IT all good.
5. Flash ROM Erasing comes up once finished it says completed - Writing to flash memory is completed, Switch off unit etc.

Is this correct??

How do i know what changes in my MPC have been made? It all seems to be working as normal.

Also is it worht deleted the .binary file in my folder list? will that effect the changes if i delete it?

Appreciate ya help, keen to know ya thoughts.

Cheers.

all steps seem OK.

when you switch your unit on, it should write "JJ OS x.xx", just check that splash screen to see if the OS is the good one.

you can delete the installation file, your OS is loaded forever in the mpc ROM.

I personnally keep different OSes files in my CF Card (akai last OS, and for now JJ OS XL 1.46), in case of I need an older one and don't have the computer ready, so I can load it back.

thx Supamonsta but sadly its still shows JJ OS 4.99 on my screen when i boot it up.

Now is this because i saved the file to my 70GB Harddisk or will it work on Memory Card only??

Really appreciate your help:)

thx.

well mate I don't really know,

what OS do you want to install? 4.99 seems the last free JJ OS update,

and if the mpc displayed something like 'writing to flash memory completed, switch off unit", etc., it means that the process was successful

perhap's did you try to install "4.99L", and this may appear like 4.99 when you switch the unit on, dunno, I'm with XL and mpc2500

try the FAQ thread, you could also try to install a demo version of OS 1 or 2 or XL to see what happens?

cheers

That doesn't mean your update wasn't successful. Perhaps it just doesn't display the 'L' on the splash screen? In other words 4.99L is an updated version of 4.99. Kinda like how windows XP doesn't tell you whether you have any updates installed when you boot it up.

If you went thru the install process like you say you did, then the install was successful. If the install wasn't successful, then you would have a dead MPC. It wouldn't just lie to you and not install the new OS...

yeah, it always says 4.99 when I start up and I have 4.99L

jeez - it said it completed, why do you need some random people on a forum to confirm it?!

"hmm, it said it's completed ... but is it really completed?! maybe the software is lying to me!"
