Channel Pressure?

Hiya.
Just wondering where the 15 gazillion 'channel pressure' midi messages are coming from, when i look at step mode, and if there's any quicker way of getting rid of them all than by hi-lighting them all & deleting, which takes some time?
it seems to be mostly in midi synth bass tracks, made in grid mode.

Sounds like midi messages linked to the aftertouch function.
I dunno if you can delete them all quickly but there maybe a option to active or desactivate the aftertouch for midi out in the other or midi sync menu.



if you have jj os2xl 2.XX you have a midi monitor to check the midi messages.

Oh sorry I think it's MIDI IN monitor only.

I used it once with a cable from the MPC midi out to the MPC midi in to experiment something so sorry for the wrong information.

Just hit the ERASE key on the main screen and choose EXCEPT NOTE (delete's everything except the note data) or CH. PRESS, etc, etc.. Just scroll through the options to choose what you want to delete. It's all there.

You should check what is sending the Channel Pressure messages. it's also known as aftertouch or mono aftertouch. If your controller is sending it you should see if you can disable it so you don;t have to erase it all the time. the MPC 60 had a filter you could engage to filter it automatically, but I'm not sure if JJ has a midi filter like that. I used to filter it in the 60 and then disable the filter if I wanted to use it. If you press hard on your keys or your MPC pads while holding them then aftertouch is sent.

If you send extrenuous midi information to the MPC it can slow down the processor since it will have to deal with it even if it isn't doing anything.

Yeah i thought it was strange coz I think the mpc1000 (os2xl 2.XX at the time I'm writing that post) is sending poly pressure message and not channel pressure. Well that's what I saw when I connected a midi cable between the out and the in of the MPC while looking at the MIDI IN monitor in a normal configuration. You can filter the MIDI OUT aftertouch but in the case of that topic we dunno the OS and if a MIDI controller or something else was used.

Yeah. My keyboard sends Channel Pressure (Aftertouch) into the MPC. The MPC pads create Poly Pressure. You can filter the aftertouch coming out of the mpc, but you can't filter it from coming in as I'm sure you know.

That's kind of odd, the MPC 60 had a midi input filter, I am surprised that the 1000 doesn't. With all the midi functionality being added to the JJ OS, it might be a good idea to add one. Then again, maybe the 1000 can handle the extra data? It can clog the midi stream with useless data, but the pricessor might be able to handle it.

I don't know if you can turn off aftertouch on any controller, seems a bit counter intuitive, usually it is the receiving device that filters.
