Today I updated to 2.08 on the 1k and I got a flash rom error message. This is the first time I ever encountered it. So it prompted me to update or cancel again. I got a bit worried but I tried it again. No problem. It worked. I thought I had a corrupt download, but I installed it again with no problem. If any other strange behavior happens, I'll let you all know.
If anyone else has ever encountered this problem, I'd like to know so we can gather the data here.

I'm going back to 2.07 and then 2.08 again to see if the same thing happens. Hopefully there's no problem with the flash rom and it was just a random glitch.

I wouldn't worry about it....too much.

I wonder if it's possible to "brick" a MPC? I remember a month or two ago there were some posts with people describing problems that seemed like they had bricked theirs. Could be anything though.

Downloaded OS-XL today. I kept getting the error message before the main screen. Reinstalled it, now I cant enter save mode without it crashing and giving me the error message! wtf??

Thanks for the response. It finally worked. I had to try booting with erase about 50 times before it loaded without crashing... I think I have a buggy machine. Before this when I hit the pads they would sometimes get stuck making a very odd vibrating noise. This OS seems to have fixed it... i hope i dont encounter any more issues though..
