Im a 500 user who lately has been thinking about moving up to a 1k with the jjos
One of the biggest reasons for moving up would be that i saw on a comparison chart, that the 1k has direct record and it also has audio tracks.
Right now i have a small home studio,and i mostly use the 500 to make beats,then i add keys,vocals,sometimes i sample..etc
But of course if the 500 isnt hooked to the motif, then i cant hear any of the keys.
I thought it would be pretty cool if i could record audio tracks into the 1k,this way if i take it on the go,i could still hear all the work i've done in the studio.
I've tried using the search, but i havent found a ansewer

JJOS has audio tracks, yes, but they are much more limited in functionality than a proper DAW. Recording tracks and the cutting them up into samples is about as close as you can get to the editing capabilities in a daw as far as I know. Could be missing something though. Also, you are going to be limited to the amount of ram you have installed as the tracks will not stream from hard disk.

So it's not like i can record my drums on tracks 1-5 or whatever
and then record vocals on 5-8 without cutting them into samples, and then assigning them to pads etc?

Sure, you can do that. You are just limited as far as editing goes. You can place recordings at dif bar positions, but that is about it as far as I am aware. Assigning the samples to pads allows more freedom is all
