I am a newbie and I am getting started with the MPC 1000 Tutorial which I bought from this site.

I have JJ 3.12 installed.

I was recording some samples and have noticed that when I tried to re-name or assign the samples to a PAD that the PADS are all pressed down, as when I attempt to rename the sample, the PAD letters just go all the way to the right without even pressing a PAD. The same when trying to assign the sample to a PAD, all PADS are just scrolling through without even pressing anything...

I purchased this MPC at Guitar center about a week ago for a good price and it seems to be in great condition, it is my first MPC and I hope it can be fixed easily, as I really do like all the production abilities of it.

Any help anyone can provide is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Well, after reading about problems with the PADS on here, I decided to return it while it was still returnable. I will now have to re-evaluate if I will buy another MPC 1000 or go with Machine...

fyi, It is not very likely that a new model from GC would have any pad issues. That was a problem with earlier runs of MPC1000s. You likely just needed to set the pad sensitivity from the Other screen in JJOS. I'd give it another shot, using an MPC is a great way to work. I love not having to TOUCH a computer untill I do my mixdown, very liberating...

I did adjust the pad sensitivity, did not work, and could not adjust all the PADS as they were all just going crazy...

I really did like the MPC, and would rather not have to touch a computer, which I know I will if I get the Maschine.

I will probably reconsider getting another MPC.

MPC's pads are just not sensitive enough compared to what's out there. Maschine's pads are light years ahead in terms of sensitivity and responsiveness. The difference is like night and day. Just try it out for yourself.

And what's great about Maschine is that you don't have to touch the computer when using it. Everything can be controlled from the hardware where it makes sense and the computer screen can even be turned off. Plus, it's just way faster to work with. And you have access to all your sounds at once unlike MPCs and you don't have to constantly stop the sequencer to make changes.
