sorry, I didn't know how to title this post or how to search because I'm not even sure what It's called but I'm wondering if the following can be done.

ok so I load up a sound, assign to a pad, start recording a sequence but I want the sample to fade in gradually and fade out gradually, I know I can do this by using level on the q links but can I do it just with a pad? I know that I could also use 16 levels an velocity but that would mean having to hit the pad for each step up or down in velocity which wouldn't be good as I want the sample to play out fully... So just to make sure I'm being clear, I was thinking of setting the sample to note on, then pressing the pad gently and then press harder and harder (without taking pressure off the pad) then for the fade out slowly releasing the pressure from the pad.

I'm 99.99% positive it's not in akai or jj os but always good to check. I don't mind using the sliders but this method wouldn't interupt workflow.

Thanks.!

If you want to use the Q links you can try to set them to work as REAL TIME.
Otherwise in a certain extent ADSR (long attack and long release) in program mode or fade in/ fade out (destructive) in trim mode could do the job.

Hope you'll find what fits your needs the best.

What you want is to have aftertouch change (modulate) the level (or amplitude, or volume, same thing) of a sample. Its called aftertouch modulation of level, or aftertouch to level in short. Not possible on JJOS.

Aftertouch -> pitch, aftertouch -> filter 1, and aftertouch -> LFO are all possible, but not aftertouch -> level.

Hey,

Thanks for the replies, yeah I was actually gonna mention after touch to try and explain what I meant but I didn't know that after touch was the expression I was looking for so thanks for the knowledge.

It looks like I'll just have to stick with Q-Links in real time, it's no big deal, just thought I best ask incase I was missing a quicker ''after touch'' method. An thanks but yeah I checked out the fade in fade outs in trim but they aren't long enough for what I'm wanting, I also find that the fade in an out in an audio track in almost pointless, I supposed it's just more of an attack and decay as obviously with an audio track you don't have a program to mess with params. I'm def not gonna complain or complaining. All these things can be worked around an I still count myself lucky that I discovered JJ.

Thanks again.

You can always try the O.G. method of sampling the sound the way you hear it.Sample. turn the
volume up or turn it down.Problem solved.

and you can ask jj to add this feature in a future update. given that other destinations are already supported, i dont think it will be hard to implement it, or too cpu consuming, but i may be wrong-

if you use DAW you can just run the sample through an ouptut and then learn aftertouch to volume.
in reaper, for some reason you can't learn aftertouch directly so you'll have to convert it to something else, like mod wheel
