this deserves a video but in the meantime, text

BUTTON mode is the greatest thing. ever. when you're using your MPC with a DAW app on a laptop for live performances.

in your backing project in DAW (i'm using reaper but the classic example would be ableton) you can use the DAW to output MIDI notes to your MPC that function as pad bank and track (thus pgm) changes.

my show is based off pad performances following larger wav songs that play in REAPER. my role is to play drums, percussion, and VSTis along with my backing tracks - essentially a moving part in a larger orchestra of the song that i've created.

normally, this would mean a lot of bank switching and pgm switching. this introduces a lot of room for error, as the song moves quickly and i need to change pgms and banks very quickly in order to keep playing. this can all be accomplished by simple MIDI messages to the MPC from reaper at the appropriate times in the song.

now, the only danger is accidentally hitting an F button while drumming. i still haven't figured out a solution for that. perhaps a "button lock" feature would be useful.

Very cool and I will try this out.

How are you playing the VSTi's?.Is it from the MPC or a controller?

probably not MPC as i'll be doing enough of that w/ drum stuff.
i will be using a modified wiimote infrared camera that will send midi ccs and midi notes when it reads infrared signals sent by hand controllers i've built (or candles). think theremin but cooler looking.
in the awesome world, it will be able to scratch using pitchbend signals and mixxx

That is impressive. And especially in a live setting.

I feel you on that.

Going accidentally to a mode where the sound is cut while freestyling is a nightmare (load/save/song/ LOOPER). I noticed that when I kept doing the same error. I was used to access GPE by mode + pad 11 which is now the looper mode shortcut.
