FAIL - Updating to latest JJOSXL

Whats happening fam!

Apologies if this was covered before.

I am trying to update to the latest OSXL (V 2.25) for my 2500 but i messed up. Here is (I think) what happened:

-I downloaded the latest OS (V 2.25)
-When I transfered the file to the 2500 i noticed the size was 235 kb (I think). I thought it was strange, as the other versions were 1 MB in size.
-So I load up the new OS on the 2500
-When I restart the 2500.....BOOM....nothing - just blank backlight

So I think the OS was incomplete when I downloaded it from JJ's site. My internet must've crashed or something.

Any help? How can I upload the previous OS.

Alright here is what I tried so far:

-Holding the [ERASE] button while turning the power on - Nothing

-Holding the [WINDOW] button while turning the power on - Nothing

-Loading the original AKAI CF with the original AKAI OS (MPC2500.bin) on the root folder and Holding the [WINDOW] button while turning the power on - Nothing

-Removing the Hard Disk Drive and the 128 MB RAM, and trying out the combinations above - Nothing

Its still stuck. The '128 MB Memory installed' doesn't even come up. JUST BLANK BACKLIGHT

Any one?

damn i honestly forgot how to solve this, but pretty sure it was a 2 button combo, like hold (shift) (window) while powering on, or (stop) and (window) while turning on

Dude you pointed me onto the right direction.

I did some more search and found this:

my solution was to install the akai OS from the Akai mem card (i had a compatible one from another brand but that did not work)
By holding down WINDOW button on start up with the akai os on the flash card and pressing ramdomly on the F button i managed to reinstall the original os without seeing anythin on screen. hope it helps.

It WORKED! I pressed so many button combos,




EDIT: Thinking about it again I think these are the steps that i took:

- I put everything back together (HDD and RAM)
- I used a CF card reader to transfer the original AKAI OS into the original AKAI CF disk root directory (I also transferred the Free JJOS in there). Nothing else on the card.
- I hold SHIFT + WINDOW while restarting (Nothing happened)
- While continuing to hold the SHIFT + WINDOW buttons, I used my other hand to press each all the F buttons (one at a time).
- While continuing to hold the SHIFT + WINDOW buttons, I then used my other hand to hold the TAP TEMPO and SCROLL LEFT/RIGHT

THEN BOOM.......Text flashing 128 MB RAM INSTALLED
The original AKAI OS was installed.

I then installed the Free JJ OS first, then the JJOSXL by following JJ's online manual.

Sorry if any of these steps were unnecessary.

it would be really good for all involved if we knew the exact keypress

I notice now that the text "128 MB RAM INSTALLED" is no longer there at start up??
The boot up seems a few seconds slower than before.

Can someone confirm me that the text does not appear during JJ OS XL boot up?
And if someone kind enough to time how many seconds it takes to boot up (From 'Pressing power' to 'Main Screen').

The RAM message does appear and it took mine 13 seconds from boot to main screen.

Mine definitely not showing at start up. But its definitely there - when pressing WINDOW in record mode.
12 seconds.

Probably nothing to worry about then.
