Midi in advice

Hi I am using a mpc 2500 jj os xl and I would like to know if this is possible?

I have my mpc and my voyager hooked up via midi I have the midi out and in both connected I can play my voyager from the pads of the mpc ok.

WHAT i want to do is this! Play the keys on my voyager to input midi notes into the mpc. Say for instance I have a drum beat playing on my mpc. and I want to play the bassline on my voyager on the actual voyager keys. can i set it up so the midi notes get recorded to the mpc sequencer with those little dots on the screen from pressing on the voyager keys?

Yes you can. The MPC is a Midi sequencer, what you want to accomplish is very easy. I suggest you check the MPC manual:
- Chapter 10: Using the MPC2500 with External devices
- Chapter 3: Sequencer feature

thanks. I figured it out I guess. I had it hooked up right the whole time. I dont even know what I was doing wrong. It just started working at 6am for some reason. Is it possible that the midi in my mpc has intermident problems?

Hey maybe you guys can help me. Ok now I got the mpc sequencer recording the midi notes from my voyager. Now im having a problem of only being able to record the midi on any other track other than track 1.

ok for example I erase all tracks so theres no tracks at all. Say if I go to track 2 and make it a midi track and put it to midi channel 1A which is what I have the voyager plugged into. When I enter the midi notes into the sequencer they do not appear and it does not record. however when i scroll back to track 1, theres the midi info that I entered. but track 1 is not even set up yet. no midi channel or track type no nothing just markers where the midi notes are. I can on track 1 record the midi notes and it plays the way I want it too. just not on any other track then 1. There has got to be a simple fix for this.

I figured out that I had multitimbrality on so I changed that to receive all tracks, wow that was easy. easy button.
