i've asked these question previously/separately, but now i'd like to know if a single version of jjos would give me both of these functions?

1) Is the recorded q-link automation tied to the slider? so once you link the slider to a different parameter you lose the previously recorded automation assigned to that slider? i'd like to be able to record a bunch of different automation of diffferent parameters-- i don't need to be able to do this live or in one pass. i'd lke to be able to record a sequence of samples, then after recording the sequence, go back and automate/program different parameters separately.

2) does the input thru stay active while changing songs? i'm just wondering if i can get away without having a mixer in my live setup. for example, when one song ends on the 1000, i can mix in another drum machine via the 1000's input thru. then, while loading up another song on the 1000, the input thru stays active so you can still hear the other drum machine thru the 1000's inputs.

many thanks

no. you can change the qlink assignment at will. it won't erase your old automation.

BUT... read my 1st post in the other thread carefully. you can only have one pass of data recorded at a time PER TRACK in 2xl. if you record one pass with qlink 1 and then go and record another continuous pass over it with qlink2, it will wipe out whatever you recorded with qlink 1 whenever qlink 2 is in motion. if qlink 2 is not in motion, the old qlink 1 data will remain intact.

os 2 does not have this problem. you can have 2 streams of qlink data side by side simultaneously per track.

best way to avoid this in 2xl is to keep everything seperated on it's own track. 1 tracks automation will NEVER wipe out another tracks automation. so you could have one pass of automation on track 1, another on track 2, another on track 3, etc... and they will all be active simultaneously. go too crazy with this and you might start to bog down the cpu, tho.

but if you want 2 passes simultaneously on one sound on the same track... you're out of luck in 2xl. you can still 'ping pong' between the 2 qlinks, tho (move 1 a little, then 2 a little, then 1 a little, etc... just don't move them at the same time).

yes. this is doable.

good question! i'm not sure on this one as i've never tested this and my mpc is packed away at the moment. someone else should be able to answer this one.
