With an upgraded memory on a JJOS MPC1000, how long would be the longest potential length for a sample? I'd be intending on playing a full band's set of backing tracks off it, so i'm looking at a good hour maybe a bit more

Man I already use a laptop regularly on tour - but it's bugged out and crashed a few times on stage which is so embarrassing. The great thing about the MPC1000 is the fact that it can send midi program change messages to external gear, which is what I need in sync with the tracks to change settings on my antares autotune processor. The auxillary outputs on the MPC1000 are also amazing to send out click tracks etc.

Is there a piece of equipment by AKAI that would be able to:
1) play lengthy amounts of multi track audio (3 - 4 tracks)
2) send midi program change information
3) have multiple auxes for individual in ear mixes for drummer etc?

The MPC1000 is so close, literally the only thing it's failing on is the length of sample

Any help is appreciated

i think the absolute best you're gonna get is a 40 minute or so sample at 22050 hz...
otherwise it'll do everything you're asking for and more...
no hope in tuning up that laptop so it doesn't dick you over? is it already doing a lot of other stuff as well?

...got an additional laptop? or book dj ipod, i hear he can play back hour long samples. dj walkman is ok in a pinch but he'll need a break halfway through

Maybe a dedicated stage laptop is the best thing. A computer that's only used for that purpose.

I am mildly annoyed about this... come on AKAI let's get an update please :D

Thanks for the help mate!
