Hey mpc heads
Noobie to mpc's here....
I have two things rolling around in my head that I need some help with.
I am in a duo that makes shoegazer / atmospheric rock with an electronic edge. I am looking to get an mpc1000 to run the sequencing duties.
My partner and I each use a behringer fcb1010 midi foot controller. The fcb1010 is used to trigger loop sampling on Korg kp-3 kaoss pads (via midi note number triggering).
Now: the first question.... If we each have a Midi IN running into the separate midi ins on the mpc1000, are the midi in messages received by both ports and then relayed to the appropriate midi out? I assume that the mpc will route midi appropriately with some sort of "local on" function. what I'm looking to figure out is if, while a sequence is being played, will simultaneous midi in messages received on each port ( each of us mashing the behringer fcb1010's) be relayed thru the mpc and then to the kp3 for loop triggering etc.

Secondly: I definitely plan on doing the JJOS install the second i get my mpc1000. I also use macOSX. If I use a Mac editor for the mpc, will this effect JJOS or vice versa?

Thanks folks! I look forward to participating around here!

Should be no problem at all to do what you need. I have no problem using 2 different MIDI devices to trigger notes to an external synth. So using the KAOSS Pad shouldn't be a problem, as it responds to note numbers as well.
As far as MPC editors for the Mac are concerned, I believe they were all developed long before the JJ OS. I don't find much use for these editors, as I can quickly create kits and programs more comfortably with the MPC, where there's more parameters than in the Mac and PC editors (unless there's been something out recently for the Mac that I'm not aware of).

BTW, Are you friends with Mike (Mercy Killah from Brooklyn)?

Ha! Yeah, I live in Grantham, PA...right outside of Harrisburg, which is apparently flooding as we speak. My family and I are in Ocean City, MD right now.

I'm thinking of investing in a new 1000. I hate to imagine the crap that's on eBay right now. I plan in making it the center if our production. I'm an "ableton pro", but the hardware seems low a better solution. I read about the issues with the pads. Amni correct to assume that a new black 1000 would be a safe bet? I hate to lose $$$ by buying a new one, but I guess I feel safer with a virgin one.

Word.
