Ok so I just got my mpc 1000 and I have already installed jjos 3.14. I want to try my hand at chopping samples but I don't have I microphone to record yet so i gotta drag and drop. I connect the MPC to the computer and drop a couple songs from itunes onto the cf card then go into load mode. The cta card comes up but the songs that i put on the card are not there. The amount of free memory on the card shows that there is something on the card but it doesn't display the file. What am I doing wrong?? Or can the MPC just not read mp3's? Thanks in advance for answering my question that has probably been asked a million times.

The MPC cannot read mp3s. Check your manual, it takes WAV files, in 16bit 44kHz format

You don't need a microphone, the RECORD IN jacks at the back can sample from any line-level source, e.g. from a turntable (maybe going through a preamp or mixer), from a CD player, or a radio, or the audio out of your computer etc. etc.

Much appreciated. I been skipping around both manuals, I guess I missed that part about MP3s.

maybe because it doesn't mention MP3s, but it does say what formats are supported, and MP3 aint one of them
