hey everyone,

i switched my os over from the akai version to the jj os 3.12 version, and it worked except the track mutes were not responding properly so i wanted to switch back to the akai os, which ive done before the first time i tried out jj os, however when i loaded the akai os onto my cf card and loaded it into memory and rebooted, i got this:

MPC1000 BootBlock Ver:1.03
BootBlock on emergency mode
A CompactFlash card was detected.
Detected FAT32 volume
OS file searching....
A correct OS file wasn't found.
system halt......

my cf card was formated and everything correctly and the akai os is right from the site.
i tried holding erase while booting but it does nothing, im working off a macbook pro and it doesnt have a cf reader in it so does this mean my best bet is to get a cf reader and reinstall the os file on the cf card and try rebooting?
im trippin balls my MP is broken now, any and all help would be appreciated, thanks!

yep, and this is what it displays:

MPC1000 BootBlock Ver: 1.03
Boot on emergency mode
A CompactFlash card isn't inserted
Please insert a CompactFlash card.

thats it, and it leaves me with no other options, so its kinda like a limbo, like i dont know where to go from here except wait to get a card reader so i can reinstall the os and try again? like i dont know why it didnt work

I haven't had it happen, but maybe it could be caused by damaged card reader, failing to read the card properly - are any of the pins in the card slot bent?
By Mattman Mon Oct 10, 2011 11:11 pm
no, all the pins are still in good condition, there isnt much about this on the internet, so im starting to panic a bit, im thinking that i should switch the version of the os i have on the card, i just cant do that because i dont have an external card reader for my mac, but maybe if i try to install the os on the card again itll work. and i know in this case contacting akai is probably out of the question since i switched the os and that voids warranty and stuff like that :S

Here is another link...viewtopic.php?f=25&t=143949

I see a few topics on the web about this and it seems slightly different to each MPC owner.

Overall Akai is a good company that should be willing to help a customer. The JJos helps Akai stay in the upper echelon of music production.

The JJos gave Akai another direction to go in.

thanks this is kinda what i was thinking, changing where i put the os on the card, and holding erase when i turn it on, i just dont have a card reader for the lappy, i think this may work and will update, thanks for the help

all is good, got a card reader, emptied the cf card and placed the os in the root of the card (just the top folder in the card) and the mp saw the file and loaded it, thanks to those who chimed in, much appreciated
