Sample problem

Hello.
I'm new with the MPC and i have a question. I have the 2500 with JJOS3 and need to now what can i do to make the samples not cut it selfs? I playing the sample and when i'm going to play the drums,thei cut the melody off...how can i put the drums playing over the melody without cutting it?
