Hi all,

Complete newbie here. Read the FAQ and still a bit confused. My MPC 1000 already has JJ OS 3.08. From what I can tell JJ OS 2XL is the best OS. Is this true? Is it better than JJ OS 2?

Also, how can I find out if the serial numbers for OS 1 and OS 2 have already been entered into my machine? I bought this second hand.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

Cheers from New Zealand!

No OS is the best, it is all a matter of preference and what you need to do with it, however os2xl is the most advanced with the most features. Look on jjos website on the comparison charts to see which os has what and what it does not have. In my honest opinion the only thing os2 has over os2xl is the extra playback features that is realtime time stretch and real time pitch shift put to me they are completely useless because you cannot record them at all so it is pointless. The one thing that I absolutely love about os2xl is the sample cursor and when you are in program mode loading samples it loads them in order ie. you load on first pad sample01 the next pad remembers that and you only have to turn wheel one click for sample 02, the other os do not do this if i remember correctly and you have to start at first sample in ram everytime although i think pressing pad plus up arrow in os2 does something almost similar. To check if you have passwords entered for the other os just install them and see if you can save, if you can save you have them already, if it asks you for a password you do not. If you find out you do not have the passwords you can always go back to previous versions ie. the one you have the password for. Hope I helped.

Congrats for getting a MPC. If you can save anything then yes you have a paid version 2 maybe. I say maybe because JJOS2 is up o 1.36. So you have an update to do.
If it asks for a code then you have JJOS2 installed but its not bought yet and needs to be unlocked by buying it. Its like a trial version if you like till you pay then you can save.
if you have a look there is a JJOS comparison chart, but yes JJOSXL is the best version. It is also been updated recently, and another one is on the way. Actually we believe something different is on the way to, but we will have to wait and see. So update and then as you have JJOS2 (if it is JJOS2) then its cheaper to buy JJOSXL as well, as you kinda have half paid for it already with JJOS2.

There is a link for macs on this page so if your on a mac go there instead to download. Then follow instructions on the JJOS website. Pretty easy but back up just in case.
