greets

is there a way to find out the BPM of an external midi sync source?

the mpc can sync itself to an incoming midi click, but how can the BPM info be saved to the sequence?

"saved to the sequence"

I'm curious as to what you mean by this. Can you be more specific? It looks like you are using the MPC as a slave to another device's tempo. Do you want to retain the tempo info when you switch back to the MPC as the master? Is there a reason why just manually setting the tempo of the sequence isn't sufficient?

Yep, sometimes I slave the MPC to the Lexicon Jamman rack looper. I can't set the tempo of a sequence manually because I don't know how to find out what tempo the jamman is running at.

I'm not familiar with that rack looper, but my first few thoughts are:

- It probably spits out MIDI beat clock which isn't going to give you BPM. Out of luck.
- Work around. Re-sample the sequence (or click track) with the looper BPM. Temporarily lay the recording on an audio track, then when the MPC on internal sync, adjust the tempo accordingly. There are diff ways of doing this, but it should work nicely if you don't mind the effort.
- I'm guessing there's a reason your looper isn't slaved to the MPC. My rack Repeater is always slaved to my MPC, but I can imagine some scenarios where that wouldn't work.

Good luck.

If you slave midi clock of MPC then record a sequence it should save BPM to the sequence. Then turn MPC in to master mode and see if MPC sequence shows correct tempo. I think it does.

Yep, sometimes I start playing around with some loops on the jamman, and then I wanna continue adding some beats on the mpc, but most of the times I slave the jamman to the mpc. It's not a very big issue for me, was just curious.
