this post isn't a question - more a testament to how awesome the jj os is.

only now have i realized that when ur in program edit - you can use the Q1 slider to change values as opposed to the data wheel.

obviously there's many of you pro users out there that would be like "no sh** sherlock"..but such a small change of habit means such a huge improvement in usability (and life for my data wheel).. and it doubles as a killer performance tool when ALL samples are selected and is used to change the 'TUNE' value.

not sure if its a feature in the original - either way JJ, if you were a woman i would like you to be the mother of my children.

that is all.

yeah its amazing how many hidden gems there are in that OS - cant wait to read through these up and coming XL tutorials..

little trick Ive just discovered as a result is for a super glitchy effect that seems to be all the rage for the kids these days

-set up a program playing in one or more tracks that is doing a really interesting hi / hat or cymbal line - something that gives a really defining groove - could be a drum line.. but make sure its set to be a mono program (edit i meant to say poly - with all samples set to mono - it works better)

-make sure you've got lots of other bass / synthy samples loaded into memory that are all by default in a matching tuning

-while the track is playing go to program editor > select all > and then use q link slider to change the assigned sample for all pads in the program (thats playing the hi hat line).. so the hi hat pattern becomes the bass line which becomes a lead synth - could be anything... you can sharply mix thru the different sounds and 'play' the changes - especially works if everything is pitched up to +36

sounds sick for breakdowns and solo parts..

no way of resampling it directly tho - would have to record to DAW and then sample from that.

There is a way to record that kind of mangling with q-link into sequencer, edit and all.. up to 15 samples on xl, up to 20 on os1 & 2. To do that you would have to use Drum program and:
-SIMULT 5 pads together,
-make an equal velocity switch on all availabe layers (128 divided on 15 or 20layers) so only 1 sample plays at a time
-disable velocity to level (volume), so all samples will sound even in volume, no matter what velocity is send
-set q-link to velocity in mode1
-set samples on layers
ready

EDIT: now as I think about it one can have up to 128samples per program, just need to spread velocity over more pads, as it's^^ just 15 samples per pad/note

No shitt. I don't even try to fool myself that I know everything about JJ. This is a nice feature.

Nym: What was it you just learned?
