Is it possible to have the mute settings work globally? By this I mean that the mute settings do not change when I change sequence.

I want this because I have a verse sequence, and a fill sequence, and when I mute or unmute things during the verse, they then change state when I go into the fill.

pretty sure these events are recordable.

could you insert a track mute/unmute event on the
first beat of the sequence in step edit so that the
setup is changed automatically when you move from
one seq to the next?

just a thought.

i would like to do this live, so i cant use step edit. besides, the sequences need different mute settings when they start running. i guess i will make a feature request if it is not currently possible to do

You can have framework sequences with track mutes laid out in advance and still add all the musical content live. In the track mute screen you can turn off whether these recorded events are used or not - so you're not restricted to the premapped mutes.I've done a macro to turn this on/off quickly - ive been meaning to do a video of this type of thing for a while. Midi button mode opens up a ton of possibilities.

Other useful mute tips: mute state is saved with the sequence. A track could have a mute on event at 1.01.01 but if you save it with mute off it'll only mute when it passes the event.

With mute events on , hitting stop will make the mutes correspond to any earlier mute event. With this you can set up mute events outside of the main loop. Eg 5 bar seq , with 1 bar of 1/8 and 4 bars of 4/4. The short bar is for mute set ups and need not be played when looping between bars 2&5- but hitting stop will set the mutes according to the set up bar- even if the play marker never passes the event.

with some forward planning and a good idea of your song structure i think what mikolo has presented gives you a pretty elegant solution. good tips mikolo!

but if you want to be free to improvise this completely then it is currently not possible and i don't know how implementable it would be.

thats my understanding anyways. :)

Niiiice. :) I don't use mute events but this makes them much more useful!

OK, probably a really dumb question, but where do you step-edit mute events? Is there a special mute track or something? Tried to RTFM the XL 3.x manual but coming up short.
