Just got a used 2500 with JJ OS1 5.56 w/ a 100GigHD, Machine works perfectly. I'm able to load/save data from the memory card and Hard Drive.. BUT, I can't create new (or rename) existing folders on the HD. I can save data into existing folders so I'm not sure what the issue is. Essentially, when I go to "Save" and click over to allocate to "Hard Drive" it freezes for about a minute before I can hit "Create New Folder", then when I type in a name and hit "do it", it says "folder already exists" even though it doesn't...

Does it sound like its the HD? Creating folders on the memory card is not a problem. Also whoever had the unit before me put quite a few folders on here so I can't think of what the issue might be.. Please let me know if any of ya'll have any ideas on this..Thanks!

can you access it with USB?

if so maybe back it up onto your computer and run a format on it from the MPC menu - so its formatted with the JJos.. if youve just purchased it its quite likely whoever sold it to you pulled it out and physically plugged it into their computer to back it up which could have messed up the file system.

never hurts to run a clean format anyway if youve just bought it - get rid of someone elses junk.

but yeah make sure you format it from in the MPC (jjos) menu - not your computer.. hopefully that should fix the 1 minute freeze also

edit - apologies if youve already tried this - i read your title as noob, not non-noob..

Cool, that sounds like a logical explanation! Have not tried this yet..I am actually new to the 2500 and dealing with JJos stuff, been using a 2000xl past 14yrs though. Ill give that a shot.. Thanks for hitting me back so quickly!

if u do plan to back it up.. and its got a lot of stuff on it - be prepared for it to take hours! transferring files over USB takes ages on the mpc..cos its still old school 1.1

You know what COZ, you got me thinking.. I have no idea! Im trying to figure out if it was December of 98 or 99 at a Miami, FL Guitar Center. Maybe they released a few slightly early or something? It def was not 2000 yet.. Anywayz lets update that to 12 years and a week.
