Since this is my first post here: Hello to all of you!
I have been using my MPC1000 for quite some time now with OS1. In the last few weeks I was trying to switch to OS2Xl. Besides that it still is a major pain to convert my sequences to 2xl I am facing a strange behavior: When I record real time pan events to a track with the q1 or q2 slider these events don´t seem to work correctly.
Doesn´t matter to which track I recorded the panning it always affects the currently active track. Let´s say i have a bassline and a hihat track both going to stereo out. I recorded pan events in the hihat track. Hihat track is active and moving from left to right, bassline is in the middle. That´s how it should be.
Then I set the bassline track to active: the hihat stops moving and the bassline track starts moving. When I solo the bassline it stops moving.
I tried both the track out and the program out, always the same.
Am I missing something here? Or is that the normal behavior of real time events?
I tried starting up with the erase button and updating to version 3.19 but it´s still the same.
Another thing: Is it possible to have OS1, OS2 and 2Xl on the same MPC? So far I have OS1 and 2XL installed. If I want to check out OS2 how and from where should I install it?
Thanks for you help!

hey ive had a similar problem, and if i am interpreting your question correctly then this might help

after you've recorded the track automation with the q-link sliders, you have to turn off the q-link slider with the button above the q-link.. when the button light is on the q-link is active, when it is off it is disabled.. when the q-link slider is off the track automation should behave how you are wanting it to

i hope this makes sense cause i dont know how else to explain it lol

Hi, sorry for the late reply. i was on the road the last few days.
@zpm
good hint, i will check this out tmrw when i am in the studio. Hopefully this doesn´t mean that i can´t have prerecorded automation and live q-link slider movement at the same time.

@MPC2K500
Thanks for the link, I have read trough the FAQ but it didn´t answer any of my questions. Especially not from where I should install OS2 when I have OS1 and 2XL installed.

Hi,
For OS2, put an OS2 os at the root of the CF card and keep pressing the WINDOW button at start-up. It should work. Also make sure you don't have any other type of OS at the root.

If you are already running JJOS1 you should just be able to select the OS2 file from anywhere on the drive(s) from the file load screen and hit "do it".

hi,
finally I had some time in the studio the check what zpm suggested. Unfortunately it didn´t change anything. Recorded pan automation still jumps to the active tracks no matter if the q links are on or off..
Sh*t, too bad.
Any other hints are greatly appreciated! because I really liked the os2xl.

Regarding my other question: I am already running os1 and os2xl. I am just wondering if I will mess up my OS2XL installation when I am "downgrading" to OS2. And will I be able to switch between OS1, OS2 and 2XL with the Tap Tempo button?

I recently came across this too and contacted jj for it and this was the reply:
Since the level and pan of REAL are rewriting the value of the program, other tracks are influenced when the same program is used.

So it seems it's a limitation. In such cases use the same program on multiple tracks.

Not so long ago I was scratching my head on automating track mixer and learned that it can be controlled and recorded (automated) via midi CC:

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2xl/multi3.htm

CC 7: Volume (track volume)
CC 10: Pan (track panning)
CC 91: Reverb Depth (FX send)

Record these to your track (step edit or grid edit on MIDI track). 8)

Haha, finally I found my error: My problem only happened when I was using sequences I made in OS1 in 2XL. I should have read the manual better. Everything ok with new sequences and automation I made in 2XL.
Too bad that the OS´s are so incompatible.. makes it nearly impossible to convert my more than 100 sequences to 2XL.
Thanks again for your time!
