Hi mpc brothers,
i have been away from the community for a few years and im sad to announce i will be selling my beloved mpc1k in the next coming days maybe even tomorrow.. i srsly need cash and have no other choice!

As i write this im in the process of copying my 50gbs+ of samples and projects to my pc harddrive and i have been searching around for some program that let me edit or play my sequences/projects on this machine but so far no luck!

Please help me out friends and let me know if there is any hope of finding any application that let me open/edit my projects without the mpc1k!!!

yours truely

NYM! i remember your great posts even after few years of not reading here.. thanks for your quick reply once again.

:( oh my,, these bad news mean i would need hours or most likely days or WEEKS of recording outs.. that will not happend. so i guess there is no other choice than just save everything for the future as suggested..

These are akai proprietary files, they are akai only, no program out there for them. SEQ on your mpc can probably be saved as MID1 or MID2 and that is universal, it can be opened within another sequencer to view/edit midi data. Other than that, no can do.

SAve as MIDI :smoker:
do this to every sequence you want to save, THEN copy of hard drive. Thats what i would do as well but it would take days to open every project and save a MIDI file. But worth considering, and makes it much easier to put into your DAW

My bad, I meant MID0 or MID1. Here's the difference between the two.

There are two variations of the Standard MIDI File format, called Type 0 and Type 1. Both variations contain the same data, but the arrangement of the data within the file is different. Type 0 is a single track of data; Type 1 is multi-track. Many of the popular sequencing software packages available can import and export either type of file.

In the Type 0 Standard MIDI File, all data is saved to a single track without regard to its MIDI channel reference. The file plays normally, but accessing the individual components is a bit more difficult. If editing is needed, the user can open the Standard MIDI File in the application of choice and copy/paste individual channels of information manually as needed.

A Type 1 Standard MIDI File outputs a separate track for each MIDI channel in the original sequence. This format greatly simplifies editing once the sequence has been transferred from one sequencer to another.
