MPC 2500 JJOSXL 3.20 is missing a 'View' param in the load menu like most legacy MPCs have.

So there is no way I can enter a folder and have the MPC show only programs or only samples. Without this basic MPC function, I have to scroll through dozens of files just to locate a program I want to load.

I actually did:

But there is no indication of a 'View' field in the manual or the actual OS. Normally this would be front and center as soon as you enter the load menu and not buried somewhere.

Now if it does exist, share your expertise instead of trying to start an argument.

JJOSXL 3.20 for the MPC 2500? It is not there unless it is buried in some menu. Loading the Akai OS, and it is there front and center. I posted the link to the manual for you to see for yourself.

I have better things to do actually. But can you chime in on the View param so I can filter what files I want to see in the load menu? How do I go about making the JJOS 3.20 only show "Programs"?

I've never used that particular feature so I don't know if its there in 2xl. But the various files have different icons so that should help right? And they're also sorted, so that projects, sequences, programs, and samples are shown in that order.

Naw...I have CD Roms full of drums. Without the View, which is in every MPC since the 2000, I have to scrolls through tons of files to find what I want; they are not sorted by file types.

I have been thinking I lost my mind not being able to find a basic function. It is simply not there. The Ren won't perform this way for sure. :P

i hadn't noticed/missed this either, this is actually the first i'd heard of it. i presume most people here have saved pgms in their own folders or several packed pgms in their own folders (recommended for quickest browsing). when saving, the advised workflow is to use "save all memory 2" into a project folder when saving a project.

edit, you do see that all seq info is listed first in a folder, pgms second, and samples last? it's not in alphabetical order (which is what i was picturing from your description, searching for a pgm like that in a mess of samples would be hell)

I have been using MPCs since 1997. And this function has been available in all MPCs since. So this immediately stood out to me.

its absence would certainly stand out to you. however, if a filetype ordered file system such as this one exists, where PGMs are grouped above the samples in the file list, i'm unclear of what you're having to scroll through in order to find a specific pgm:

Without this basic MPC function, I have to scroll through dozens of files just to locate a program I want to load.

are you scrolling through prj and seq files? this is unlikely, as i'm not aware of a condition where a user would contain multiple prj/seq/etc files in the same folder where he/she is storing non-project specific pgms and samples.

now, let's say you have a folder with 100 pgms and 1000 samples, and you're looking for a sample called "zsnare.wav" here is where i can see there be an issue with scrolling through 100 pgms...but this strikes me as a very rare case.

question - i don't remember anymore, but how are files organized in akai os's for the 1k and 25k? alphabetically, if i'm not mistaken? in an alphabetical filesystem, user-specified "TYPE" is an essential browsing parameter.

I have Akai CD roms with samples and programs stored in the same folder. It reads everything in alpha numeric order; it doesn't sort files. So without a "View' or function to filter certain files, there is a lot of scrolling to find what I want.

weird!! everything on my HD and flash card reads grouped by file type as I described. could you test with a folder with multiple samples and pgms on a flash card to see if this is just an issue with CDs, as I'm now guessing?
