:hmmm:

Record Mode:
How in the hell did JJ get the 2500 to display the graphic waveform of incoming audio...that isn't being recorded? Whoa...

A realtime waveform display is simply an amplitude meter with memory. If you can measure and display the amplitude of the incoming signal (like in past OSes), then its just a matter of remembering the last amplitude value when the next one (and the next one and the next one) comes in.

Thanks for the explanation. It threw me off. I was playing one MPC connected to the inputs of the MPC 2500XL. Then I entered Sample Record Mode. I saw what appeared to be the 2500XL sampling audio in a preset loop. I was about to get upset because I couldn't find a sample start/stop button...I thought recording was only enabled via threshold. Then I thought...JJ is doing some vodoo so I better read the manual. Then it detailed that incoming audio is always monitored and waveforms are continuously drawn/redrawn even when not recording. And then the transport keys are used to start/stop sampling.

Now...I am thinking...how do you go about resampling a sequence playing if the transport is disabled? I guess I will find out tomorrrow when I finish reading....11PM here...need some shut eye...after I have these cookies and milk.

That's a good point. I just got my screen installed, I will check on resampling sequences soon as I get a chance..
